Logan Magad-Weiss
I joined NEXCL in 2022 as a member of the Department of Geosciences. My doctoral research interests involve characterizing the high-pressure, high-temperature properties of ammonia and ammonia-water mixtures to better understand the interiors of Uranus and Neptune. I am particularly interested in probing and understanding their superionic phases. Techniques I am using include CO2 laser heating, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction measurements using diamond anvil cells.
Previously I completed an internship at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory with Dr. Elis Stavrou as a post-graduate student intern with the Materials Science Division performing a high-pressure study on α-Mn and conducting optical microscopy and interferometry on energetic materials.
